The Internet Backup feature will automatically switch from fiber to a customer’s AT&T wireless plan during an outage for uninterrupted home internet.

AT&T is rolling out a new wireless service that its customers should neither expect nor want to use: a free Internet Backup for its fiber-optic residential broadband. Announced Monday, this promises an automatic cutover from a speedy wired connection to AT&T’s wireless network,

AT&T has annoucned a new feature which uses AT&T's wireless network to provide a backup home internet in the event of a fiber outage.

Next week, AT&T will offer Internet Backup on its latest Fiber gateways. Anyone with AT&T Fiber and an eligible unlimited postpaid wireless plan can join.

AT&T plans to launch an internet backup service for residential customers that have both AT&T Fiber and an unlimited post-paid wireless tariff.
