"Wicked" and "Gladiator II" debuted in theaters with a combined $270 million in ticket sales "Wicked," starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, debuted with $114 million domestically and $164.2 million globally for Universal Pictures, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The pair of films came did huge business as Thanskgiving gets underway in the U.S. And globally, they have earned $164.2 million and $221 million, respectively.

“Gladiator II” also gave the box office a boost this weekend, landing in second with $55.5 million, CNBC reported. Twenty-four years after Ridley Scott’s Oscar-winning movie hit theaters, the acclaimed director returned for a sequel led by Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn.
