Google Maps and Waze are making good on updates that were promised back in July. The services, both owned by Alphabet, are offering more information to drivers about traffic cameras, car crashes ahead and speed traps that users on both apps can report or respond to.

Google has started integrating Waze’s crowdsourced incident reports into Google Maps, starting with police alerts.

On the Google Maps subreddit (via Android Police ), some Maps users have reported seeing alerts like "police reported ahead" from Waze drivers. This feature was announced by Google back in July, but appears to be getting a wider rollout – just in time for the holiday driving season.

This comes after Google Maps replaced speed traps with a Police option in the incident reporting menu last week. This feature was also first announced by Google in late July, along with a handful of other upgrades to both Maps and Waze, some of which we touched on above.

As many of you know, Google owns both Google Maps and Waze. Google paid $1.3 billion back in 2013 for the crowdsourced navigation app and website. Over the years Google has shared some of the best features found on Waze with Google Maps and now it is happening again.

Waze incident alerts, like police presence warnings, are showing up on Google Maps, with a clear note that they came from Waze users. Users can confirm or dismiss these alerts, which pop up briefly to keep the map clean.
