Haiti's transitional presidential council transferred the rotating presidency on Monday to architect Leslie Voltaire despite opposition from outgoing president Edgard Leblanc Fils, who refused to sign a decree ratifying the move.

One of the political blocs represented on Haiti’s U.S.-backed transition council says it is recalling its representative on the ruling entity tasked with bringing political stability to the country.

The head of a rotating presidency that is running Haiti said on Monday that he would not ratify the handover to the man in line to take over from him, citing unresolved corruption accusations against three other council members.
