Bengaluru: The city is experiencing a change in its weather, offering chilly temperatures to the residents due to the impact of Cyclone Fengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert as this weather pattern is set to persist for the week across numerous parts of the state.

Puducherry Education Minister A Namachivayam announced a holiday for all educational institutions on December 2. Cyclone Fengal brought unprecedented rainfall, surpassing previous records.

Amid persistent heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, authorities have ordered the closure of schools across several regions in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. The precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of students amid challenging weather conditions caused by Cyclone Fengal.

Meanwhile, the district administrations declared a holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges and anganwadi in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Wayanad districts on Monday.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Kerala due to Cyclone Fengal, with neighboring states on orange alert. Heavy rainfall is expected, prompting educational institutions to close and authorities to advise evacuations in vulnerable areas.

The IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall in some areas, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall expected on Sunday. The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in the northern districts of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur.
