A decision on the next Maharashtra Chief Minister will be taken during a meeting of the BJP legislative party tomorrow, Shiv Sena chief and caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said today

BJP leader Raosaheb Danve hinted that the Maharashtra Chief Minister's name has been finalised, while a Shiv Sena leader said Eknath Shinde is expected to return to Mumbai today as government formation hangs in the balance.

Ajit Pawar said that the other Mahayuti allies, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction led by himself, will get the Deputy Chief Minister posts.

Maharashtra caretaker CM Eknath Shinde said, "I am doing good now. I had come here to rest after the hectic election schedule... I did not take any leave during my 2.5 years as the CM. People are still here to meet me.

Addressing a press conference in Satara, caretaker Chief Minister Shinde reiterated his unconditional support to the CM candidate, stating that people delivered a historic mandate in favour of the Mahayuti alliance.

Shinde also said that his government's work in Maharashtra in the last 2.5 years will be written in "golden letters in history"
