The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office says on Oct. 6, at around 10:30 a.m., deputies were sent to the Church at the Epicenter in reference to a welfare check after an unknown 911 call.

Jacob Tarver was arrested for falsely reporting a shooting at a Burnet County church and misleading law enforcement.

Burnet County Sheriff Calvin Boyd said investigators spent most of Sunday and part of Monday searching for two men who Tarver said were involved in what turned out to be a false report. He did not provide a motive for Tarver's report but said that his mental health had been evaluated by authorities. Boyd declined to comment further about it.

Burnet County sheriff's deputies responded to shots fired at a Burnet church Sunday morning, according to a news release from authorities.

Tarver is charged with misdemeanor false report to induce an emergency response, felony tampering or fabricating physical evidence and felony deadly conduct. He remains in the Burnet County Jail and has not had a bond set.

According to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the church’s volunteer security team fired multiple rounds during the incident.
