Missing data has emerged as a divisive issue almost two years after the parents of Katie Meyer filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the university.

A bill spurred by the 2022 death of Katie Meyer, who died by suicide when she was a soccer goalie at Stanford, has become state law in California.

A new California state law, brought on by the death of Katie Meyer and her family’s Katie’s Save initiative, will provide students with an advisor of their choosing during disciplinary proceedings at California colleges and universities.
