Near Buffalo, between 10 and 20 inches of lake effect snow is expected by the end of Sunday, according to the Weather Service. The southern part of Erie County, along with Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, are predicted to see 2 to 4 feet of snow by Monday night.

Portions of Interstate 90 in New York state has reopened to passenger vehicles as the Great Lakes region continues to be pummeled by a record-breaking lake-effect snow event that has dumped several feet of snow across the area.

Post-Thanksgiving travel plans were thrown into trouble as almost 30 inches of snow fell along Lake Erie, closing a stretch of I-90 and stranding motorists.
