In 1985, one department store manager described the day after Thanksgiving as "a black cloud hanging over" his employees.

The greater Green Bay Walmart stores — 2440 W. Mason St., 2292 Main St. and 1415 Lawrence Drive — will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. On Black Friday, the stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., as usual, for shoppers.

While the days leading up to Thanksgiving took relatively tranquil across the U.S., a storm brewing for Black Friday could really snarl travel plans in the Northeast.

A new storm system that will sweep across the nation is expected to arrive along the East Coast right around Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. The snow threat across the interior Northeast will remain a possibility later next week if the storm's core tracks far enough northward into the corridor
